Yesterday morning, Jason, Mom, Sarah and I got up too early to go to a consignment sale. We arrived at 5:45 AM and ended up being about the 60th people in line waiting until 6:30 when the organization would pass out tickets. The sale was so well organized that they offered everyone (probably close to 150 people) "doughnuts in the dark." At 6:30, a worker would pass out numbered tickets to each person, then everyone could leave and return at 8:00 when they would begin calling ticket numbers in order. The major rule to remember was, "if you're not here when we call your number, you have to get another ticket and go to the end of the line." Well having waken up at 4:30 or earlier, we were not going to miss our numbers being called. So we went to Chic-fil-A and planned our "plan of attack." First stop: furniture to try to find a crib, second stop: entertainers, exersaucers, third stop: maternity wear, and fourth stop: the large room in the middle were we could find clothes, sheets, blankets, diaper pails, etc.
It was so exciting; kind of like the day after Thanksgiving when you know exactly what you want and where to find it, you just have to wait for the doors to open. Well, the big items we found were a crib for $65 and a pack-n-play for $60. We found lots of socks and onesies, a few mattress pads and sheets, receiving blankets, monitor, etc. I priced everything out and if we had purchased everything at Babies-r-us, we would have spent over $1,000 and we spent less than $300. I was so excited when I got home, but also so tired. I unpacked everything, and put it in a bin to wash, then Jason and I took a nap to recooperate from our early morning adventure. I would definitely go again and try to be the first in line. Maybe 3:30 next year? Ha!
